Namiki's Introduction

Hello class! I'm Namiki. This is my first year and third term in the graduate program at North Central College. My major is Leadership Studies with Higher Education emphasis.

My background...
I was born and raised in Japan. I came to the United States to study in 2010. I went to a community college to study English and take general education before transferring to North Central College (NCC) in 2013. My major in undergraduate was global studies with international business emphasis and minor was English learning learners studies (current TESOL) at NCC.

Career...
After graduating from NCC, I worked in a corporation as an accounting/administrative assistant.
As working in a business or accounting field, I figured that my passion was not in that field but education related field. Currently, I work for English Language Institute (ELI) at NCC as Graduate Assistant (and I love it!). My job is to support new, current, prospective ELI students who learn English as their second language. I also communicate with students, tutor students, and market our program outside of the campus.
I don't have a personal website, but I would love to share the ELI website! that I created with my supervisor.

Intellectual interest...
I always wanted to work in a place where I get to learn different cultures and meet people from different countries. The reason why I came back to earn master's degree was to focus on higher education and international education. In the future, I would like to work with international students  with using my experience of being an international student who value education!
